The Casino Gorilla was immediately impressed by the sophisticated design of this 2017 slot from NetEnt. Throw an enormous jackpot prize into the mix and this game starts to look very appealing indeed.

Divine Fortune takes the myths and legends of Ancient Greece – a popular source of inspiration for many slot games. In fact slot gamers tend to be attracted to games which take on historical or legendary themes, as the success of games based in Ancient Rome or Egypt demonstrates.
Divine Fortune was the largest ever (non-progressive) jackpot slot by NetEnt upon its release. It was launched to critical and commercial acclaim and remains one of the more popular Net Entertainment slots available in online casinos at the moment.
How to Play
There is a lot of flexibility in the amount you can bet on Divine Fortune, so choose carefully when selecting your coin value and bet level. These bets range from 20 cents all the way up to £200 per spin.
Prizes are awarded when you match three or more symbols on consecutive reels from leftmost to right. These eight base game symbols are the standard A,K,Q and J along with higher value symbols taken from mythical Ancient Greece: falcon, Minotaur, lion and Medusa.
Three of a kind will barely recover your stake, so you will be hoping to be able to find your way into a bonus round pretty quickly. Divine Fortune offers players a 96.59% theoretical return which is good but not outstanding.
The wild symbol is the famous winged horse Pegasus and this plays a major role in both the standard and bonus rounds of Divine Fortune. The Falling Wild feature occurs every time a wild symbol shows up on the reels.
A free respin is triggered and the wild falls down the rows until it moves off the grid and a new spin is required. The Wild on Wild feature kicks in when another wild appears in a reel behind the first falling.
Now this second wild expands to cover the whole reel and it slips down one space for every free respin.
When the bonus rounds kick in you will really start to appreciate your good fortune. The free spin symbol is a hand clutching a lightning bolt.
Three of these anywhere on the reels gets you 5 free spins, with eight spins for four and twelve spins if you find all five at the same time. In the free spins mode, any wild which appears will automatically become a Wild on Wild which means that it will expand to cover the whole reel.
The action doesn’t end with just one bonus feature. As you play Divine Fortune you will notice the three jackpot amounts above the reels: Minor, Major and Mega.
While the Minor jackpot is normally less than £50, the Major can get into the hundreds and the Mega jackpot could stretch to more than £100,000. Collect gold coins during the main game to unlock the jackpot game.
Here you will be taken to a new screen where your coins are randomly placed on a new 5×3 reel. The reels feature either coins or blank spaces, so you spin and hope to add to your tally.
If you make one straight line of five coins you unlock the Minor Jackpot. Two lines gives you the Major jackpot and if you fill up the reels entirely then you get that magical Mega jackpot.
Divine Fortune has not made it onto ever slot gamer’s radar – perhaps because of the overly familiar theme and the fact that it doesn’t feature a distinctive character or a movie tie-in. Even the Casino Gorilla was only vaguely familiar with this game, although he is certainly a fan now.
You will struggle to find a better Ancient Greece themed game than this one. The combination of the different wild features adds to the basic and bonus games, and of course the enormous jackpot is sure to interest any slot game player.
This may not be as famous as other NetEnt slots but Divine Fortune deserves to be discussed as one of their best ever slot game releases.
